About

A consolidation practice that writes its own software

HTCO Group is a South African financial reporting practice, founded in 2004. We prepare group consolidations and IFRS annual financial statements for companies of every size, from owner-managed businesses through to listed groups.

The firm was built around one observation: the hardest part of financial reporting is not the accounting, it is the production. Consolidations rebuilt from scratch every year. Eliminations proved in a spreadsheet nobody else can follow. Numbers re-keyed between a trial balance, a set of working papers and a Word document, with nobody able to say for certain that they still agree.

So we automated our own work. What began as internal tooling became AFSStudio and TagXBRL — software we use in-house to produce and file the statements we sign off. It is why the turnaround is short, and why every figure in a set can be traced back to the ledger entry it came from.

Some clients bring us only the reporting and keep the bookkeeping and tax in house; others hand us everything from the bookkeeping up. Either is normal. We are registered with SAICA and SAIPA, we work on fixed monthly fees, and the person who takes your call is the person who does your work.
